Agronomy software for fields, crop rotation and technology maps

askcust develops agronomy software: fields and crop rotation, crop technology maps, planned and actual operations, CPP and fertiliser use within approved regulations, and an observation log in one web workspace. For agronomy teams that run the season in Excel and messengers and assemble reports for management by hand.

What agronomy software is

Agronomy software is the workspace of a farm's agronomy team for fields and crop rotation, seasonal crop technology maps, planned and actual field operations, the use of crop protection products and fertilisers, and crop observations. Data follows the structure field, season, crop, operations, so each field's history is visible over the years. Unlike an agronomist mobile app, it is a web system for planning and analysis in the office.

Who needs an agronomist workspace

  • ·Chief agronomists who keep technology maps and crop rotation in Excel and rebuild them every season.
  • ·Agronomy teams covering several farm units or clusters that need the same technology maps and reporting.
  • ·Farms where CPP use is recorded by hand and control of rates and pre-harvest intervals relies on memory.
  • ·Agricultural companies that advise clients and want to keep every farm's fields in one system.

Which problems software for an agronomy team solves

Technology maps are rebuilt in Excel every season

A crop technology map in the software is a template of operations with rates, dates and growth stages that is copied to a new field or season and adjusted. Changing a rate or a product immediately recalculates material needs and cost per hectare.

CPP rates and regulations are checked from memory

The product list holds regulations from Ukraine's State Register of Pesticides and Agrochemicals: approved crops, rates, maximum number of applications and pre-harvest interval. The software warns when a rate or number of applications exceeds the regulation or a treatment is too close to harvest.

A field's history is scattered across files and years

Crops, previous crops, treatments, yields and observations are stored by field and season, so the agronomist sees a field's full history before planning the rotation instead of searching for last year's spreadsheets.

Plan and actual are compared at season end

Actual operations from work orders, the mobile app or telematics sit next to the technology map plan. Delays, CPP overuse or a missed treatment are visible during the season, while there is still time to act.

What agronomy software does

The set of modules is defined during the analysis; the mobile app for field work connects to the same database.

Fields and crop rotation

Fields with boundaries from the digital field map, crop, variety and previous crop by season, and a rotation plan several years ahead with warnings about breaking the rules the agronomist sets.

Technology maps and budget

Operations with dates, BBCH growth stages, implements, and seed, fertiliser and CPP rates; the technology map calculates material needs and cost per hectare, field and crop.

Planned and actual operations

A calendar of operations for the week and the season, actual data from work orders, the mobile app or telematics, and deviations in dates, areas and rates for every field.

CPP and fertiliser application records

An application log with product, rate, area, date and weather, regulation checks against the State Register reference list, and an application report by field and crop.

Observations and crop stages

Notes from the agronomist and scouts with photos, growth stage, pests, diseases and weeds, tied to a field and a point on the map; notes from the mobile app arrive after synchronisation.

Agronomy team reports

Crop condition by field, technology map progress, CPP and fertilisers applied, and season results with yields for the chief agronomist, management and accounting.

What the software connects to

The software takes data from the farm's existing systems; the CPP reference list is filled from the State Register and checked by the agronomist.

  • digital field map
  • agronomist mobile app
  • Wialon and other telematics
  • Sentinel-2 imagery (NDVI)
  • BAS accounting (inventory write-offs)
  • Excel technology map templates
  • weather services with an API
  • REST APIs

Off-the-shelf agri platform or software for your agronomy team

How askcust works

  1. Review of technology maps and reports

askcust reviews the existing technology maps, treatment logs and agronomy reports: which fields and indicators are tracked, where data is duplicated and what management asks for.

  2. Field, season and crop model

The data model and a prototype of the key screens (field, season, technology map, treatment log) are designed, and the agronomist checks them on several of their fields before development starts.

  3. Moving the history

Fields, crops, previous crops and yields of past seasons are moved from spreadsheets so that the rotation and field history are visible from the first day in the software.

  4. A season on real data

The current season's technology maps, treatment log and observations are kept in the software; agronomists' feedback becomes the next releases, and actual data starts arriving from the mobile app and telematics.

  5. Connections and support

Exchange with accounting and BAS, connection of the field map and satellite data, and support with reference list updates before every season, by agreement.

questions and answers

Can crop rotation be planned several years ahead?

Yes. The rotation plan is kept by field for several seasons ahead, and the software warns about breaking the rules the agronomist sets: the minimum interval before a crop returns to a field, unwanted previous crops, a crop's share in the cropping structure. Actual crops of past years come from the field's history, so the plan rests on real data.

How is a crop technology map built?

From a template of operations for the crop: each operation has a date or a BBCH growth stage, an implement, and seed, fertiliser or CPP rates. The template is copied to a field and season, the agronomist adjusts it to the specific field, and the software calculates material and machinery needs and cost per hectare for the season budget.

Is there a mobile version of the agronomy software?

Yes, as a separate native iOS and Android app that works with the same database. In the field the agronomist records observations, photos and completed operations even without a connection, while the web software in the office stays the place for planning, technology maps and reports. Data synchronises as soon as the network is back.

Can telematics data be connected?

Yes. Tracks and worked area from Wialon or manufacturers' telematics are turned into actual operations by field and sit next to the technology map plan. The agronomist sees which field has been worked and by which machine, without calling operators or copying work orders by hand.

How does the software check CPP application regulations?

Against a product reference list filled from the State Register of Pesticides and Agrochemicals: for each product it stores approved crops, application rates, the maximum number of applications and the pre-harvest interval. During planning or application the software warns about going beyond the regulation, and the decision stays with the agronomist. The list is updated when the register changes.

How much does agronomy software development cost?

The cost depends on the number of modules, the amount of history to move and integrations with accounting, the field map and telematics, not on farm area. askcust starts with the first module (fields, crop rotation and technology maps) and estimates it with a fixed scope after reviewing the existing technology maps and reports.
