Data is scattered across programs and spreadsheets
The system brings field, operations, warehouse and document records into one database; management reports are generated automatically instead of in Excel at the end of the month.
askcust develops custom software for agribusiness: web systems for records and management, mobile apps for field work, integrations with accounting, telematics and equipment. For farms and agricultural companies whose processes, data or integrations do not fit off-the-shelf products.
Custom software development for agribusiness is building a system around the processes of one specific enterprise, its fields, machinery, warehouse, documents and people, instead of adjusting the enterprise to a ready-made product. Unlike a subscription service, the client owns the code and the data, and the feature set is defined by the tasks, not by a pricing tier.
The system brings field, operations, warehouse and document records into one database; management reports are generated automatically instead of in Excel at the end of the month.
Features are designed around how the farm actually works: its own statuses, documents, approvals and write-off norms.
Accounting software, telematics, weighbridges, weather stations and spreadsheets are connected as data sources through APIs, file exchange or direct database access.
A mobile app with an offline mode sends tasks, photos and observations to the shared system as soon as there is a connection.
The code and the database belong to the client and run on the client's infrastructure; changing the contractor or developing the system in-house is possible at any time.
The set of modules is defined during the analysis; below are the typical directions.
Dashboards for the office and the management: fields, operations, warehouse, land bank, contracts, reports. Stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL.
Native iOS and Android apps in Swift and Kotlin: field map, geotagged photos, tasks, offline mode and synchronisation.
Exchange with accounting and e-reporting systems, telematics (Wialon, manufacturers' APIs), weighbridges and controllers through APIs, files or the Modbus and MQTT protocols.
Telegram bots, automatic reports, reminders about contracts and regulations, synchronisation between services.
Sales and record systems built for the seasonality of the agricultural market: clients with fields, deals, deferred payments, cost per crop.
Field, machinery and warehouse indicators in one place, filtered by season, cluster and crop.
askcust builds the software and connects data sources; the hardware and service subscriptions stay with their providers.
| criterion | Off-the-shelf product | Custom by askcust |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Works right after sign-up; the processes adapt to the product. | The first module launches after the analysis and prototype; the processes stay yours. |
| Features | A fixed set per pricing tier; changes for a single client are usually impossible. | Exactly what your processes need; new ones are added in the next releases. |
| Integrations | Only the ones the vendor has foreseen. | Any system with an API, file exchange or database access. |
| Data and code | Data on the vendor's servers; on cancelling the subscription, an export if one is provided. | The code and the database belong to the client and run on the client's infrastructure. |
| Cost | A subscription per user or per hectare; the fee grows with the farm. | A one-time development cost and support by agreement; no per-hectare fees. |
| When to choose | Standard processes, a small farm, a start needed tomorrow. | Own processes, several systems to integrate, data that must stay with you. |
Conversations with the people who keep the records and work in the field; the result is a process description and a prioritised task list that is useful even without development.
A clickable prototype of the key screens and a written scope of the first release with an estimate.
Import of existing spreadsheets and reference data, connection of data sources, a working version for one team.
The agronomist, the accountant and the director work in the system; their feedback turns into the next releases with a fixed scope.
Code in the client's repository, documentation, team training, support and development of the system by agreement.
examples of askcust's work →not agriculture, but the same kind of task: records, CRM, automation
The cost depends on the number of modules, integrations and user roles, not on hectares or seats. After the process analysis askcust gives an estimate for the first release with a fixed scope and puts it in writing; further stages are estimated separately, once it is clear what is needed next.
The timeline is set after the analysis and depends on the scope of the first module and the number of integrations. The first release is deliberately kept small, one module on the farm's real data, so that the system starts working as early as possible and the remaining features are added in iterations.
The client. The code is handed over to the client's repository and the database runs on the client's server or cloud account. askcust has access only for the duration of development and of support by agreement.
Yes. The process analysis is a separate stage with its own result: a process description, a prioritised task list and a recommendation on what to automate first. After it you can order development from askcust, from another team, or postpone it.
Yes, after an audit of the code and the infrastructure. askcust assesses the state of the system, the risks and the cost of support; if rewriting the system in parts is cheaper than maintaining it, you will be told so directly.
Yes. Team support means taking part in your project for a specific stage: design, development of a module, an integration. The work happens in your repository and follows your processes.
